Construction Work Steams Ahead At Seaside

The Tweed Coast’s newest beachfront masterplanned community – Seaside – is taking shape following a busy Christmas and New Year period for construction crews on site.

Work on the $750 million development is racing ahead of schedule, with the first stage of major road work about to get underway.

From next week, civil construction contractors SEE Civil will commence work on a significant upgrade of Casuarina Way, which links the Casuarina, Seaside and Salt Village precincts.

The upgrade will transform Casuarina Way into a divided road, removing a series of traffic calmers currently in place and installing two new roundabouts at the central and southern points of Seaside.

Traffic will be redirected to an adjacent diversion road, until the Casuarina Way upgrade is completed in approximately early May this year.

SEE Civil chief executive Craig Long says he is extremely pleased with progress his team has made at Seaside in recent months.

“We’re reaching construction milestones much earlier than expected,” Mr Long said.

“We have had up to 30 of workers on site each day, and we expect this number will increase as construction activity steps up a notch in the following weeks.

“We have worked hard to ensure there will be minimal disruption to locals regularly using the diversion road, which is signposted and will have street lighting installed shortly.”

In addition to road works, SEE Civil is progressing site works as well as plans for the construction of a beachfront cycleway.

“We are well advanced with site work and drainage for the creekside precinct, which includes the first handful of home sites being offered at Seaside, bordering Cudgen Creek,” Mr Long said.

“We are also soon to commence work on the highly anticipated beachfront cycleway / walkway. Completion of this cycleway is anticipated to be due sometime in early April this year.”

“Once complete, the cycleway will stretch more than 10 kilometres along the New Tweed coastline, linking Cabarita through Casuarina, Seaside and Salt to Kingscliff.”

Seaside City Developments director and project manager Ron Barclay says the activity on site has sparked new interest in the project.

“Tweed Coast locals are excited to see construction pushing ahead – they are keen to enjoy all the new amenities Seaside will deliver, such as improved infrastructure and a new retail precinct further down the track,” Mr Barclay said.

“We had plenty of enquiry over summer from people holidaying in the region, and now that the doors are open to our new sales centre in Kingscliff I expect interest in Seaside will continue to climb.

“Seaside will really come alive later this month when we kick off our landscaping program, which will see more than 70,000 native trees planted as part of an extensive five year dune and vegetation management plan.”

A limited number of Creekside home sites are available from $295,000, with house and land packages also on offer from about $555,000

The Seaside sales office is located at shop 2, 36 Marine Parade Kingscliff and is open Monday to Wednesday and Friday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
